FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Author, Philanthropist Ethel Gardner Joins Creators’ Rights Movement Advisory Board
WASHINGTON, Jan. 26, 2026 — The Creators’ Rights Movement (CRM), a national advocacy
organization advancing creator ownership and fair compensation, announced today that author and nonprofit founder Ethel Gardner has joined the movement’s Advisory Board,
strengthening CRM’s work at the intersection of intellectual property protection, literacy, and
cultural preservation.
Gardner is the founder of the Kennedy Austin Foundation, a nonprofit established to educate,
equip, and empower women and families impacted by grief after loss and domestic violence.
Through partnerships and community-based support services, the foundation provides
resources and programming designed to help individuals move from crisis toward stability and
healing.
“As creators, we can’t afford to live on pause. Our work, our voices, and our futures matter,”
Gardner said. “Don’t let fear write your story. Bless my yes and move life forward.”
As a CRM Advisory Board member, Gardner will provide strategic guidance to help the
movement expand public education around creator rights, strengthen community partnerships, and elevate real-world perspectives from authors and cultural leaders. Advisory board members typically support mission alignment, serve as thought partners on outreach initiatives, and help broaden visibility and trust with key audiences, especially creators who are navigating publishing, licensing, and long-term ownership decisions.
The Creators’ Rights Movement is a national advocacy organization working to modernize
copyright laws, secure fair compensation, and ensure long-term ownership rights for creators.
Supporters are encouraged to learn more about the movement and sign the petition calling for
updated copyright protections.
Gardner is the author of The Power of Pause: Still Waiting to Live in a World Full of Possibilities, as well as A Mother’s Cry and The Makings of You, Ingredients for a Great Recipe. Her writing and public service reflect a consistent message: reclaim identity, establish boundaries, and live with intention so creators and community members alike can protect what they build and pass it forward.
